Employers are obliged to have a Safety Statement – a system of policies and procedures used to manage risk. It specifies how a company will manage the safety of its staff.
• Our role in producing document:
Take into account type of Work your Company does

Access risks
Outline a safe way of carrying out the work
• Objectives:
Enable you to satisfy legal requirements
Demonstrate effective risk management
Reduce risks to employees
Develop staff expertise
An example of such a system is OHSAS 18001. This is a health and safety management system specification, which can be accredited by external bodies once implemented in the workplace.

Health & Safety Legislation:
The SHWW (Safety Health & Welfare at Work) Act 2005 imposes very strict rules on owners, partners, directors and employers. Unlike other responsibilities these obligations cannot be contracted out. The primary document that underpins all health safety in the workplace is a coherent safety policy and procedure document. This is required to prove company policy commitment and to allow interested parties to refer to detail and audit safety management. Careful consideration of the work area can reduce risk and eliminate hazards at source

Manual Handling Courses:
What Is Manual Handling?
Manual handling means more than just lifting or carrying something. The term ‘manual handling’ is used to describe a range of activities including lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, moving, holding or restraining an object, animal or person. It also covers activities which require the use of force or effort such as pulling a lever, or operating power tools.
What's The Problem?
Up to one third of all work injuries in Ireland occur during manual handling. In 2000, 35% of the accidents reported to the Health and Safety Authority were injuries resulting from manual handling activity. Most of the reported accidents involving manual handling tasks cause back injury although hands arms and feet are also vulnerable. Sometimes the person injured never fully recovers or requires a long period of rehabilitation before they are able to work again.
